If one can have
anything, it is best not to have illness; this is every person’s hope. But
with the way everybody lives their lives in society, there are not many people impervious to disease. Having an illness is not that frightening. What is harrowing
is having an illness and not being able to find a suitable doctor. I have been
quite lucky. My daughter suffered from allergies with nasal congestion causing
her to sleep with her mouth open at night. Seeing my child suffer weighed heavily
on me and naturally I was anxious to find a good doctor to cure her illness. I
decided to take my child to Dr. Liu’s clinic. Dr. Liu’s clinic is
ordinary looking. Upon entering, I saw a number of diplomas on the wall. Being from China, I can recognize authentic diplomas
from there. I could tell that his undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate degrees
were real. Anyhow, I decided that even if he does not cure my daughter’s
illness, I still have found a formally trained doctor of Chinese medicine and acupuncture.
My daughter and I talked it over and we decided to give Dr. Liu a try. After
my 11 year old daughter had her pulse analyzed (a technique used in Chinese medicine) by Dr. Liu, she lay down on the treatment
table. Dr. Liu took out one-time use disposable acupuncture needles to apply
to my daughter. My heart ached as I watched.
Dr. Liu’s finger tapped lightly, and a needle was inserted. After
a while several needles were inserted. I asked my daughter if it hurt. She said it was not really painful, and I breathed a sigh of relief.
After several treatments by Dr. Liu, something fantastic happened; my daughter could sleep without having to breathe
through her mouth. I just couldn’t believe it; these little tiny silver
needles had such a profound effect.
During the times I was at the clinic with my daughter, I had encountered a number of patients helped by Dr. Liu. They excitedly told me about their treatment experiences. I was emotionally moved and felt that these stories had to be written down and shared, to allow even more
people who are in the midst of searching for treatment to find effective treatment sooner and to get on with healthy lives.
30 year old Jodi told me this: “He is a miracle doctor. I have two boys and I want another girl. I have a problem
with my period. Yesterday morning I told Dr. Liu that I had not had a period
for 45 days. Dr. Liu told me that he was going to treat me and that the period
would come very soon. My period came last night.
That’s miraculous.” Dr. Liu had been recommended to her by
a friend, whose child had been treated by Dr. Liu.
40 year old Ms. Yu had suffered from very cold feet and pain in her heels for 10 years, and the situation
became more serious with each passing year. Sleeping at night necessitated the
wearing of socks. After seeing a number of doctors of Chinese medicine in this
city and taking Chinese herbal medicine for two years, she still had not obtained a cure.
After only a couple of treatments with Dr. Liu, she started feeling warmth in her feet.
After one course of treatment, a 10 year old illness was finally cured.
Ms. Zuo’s 13 year old daughter suffered from facial paralysis due to a facial stroke. Her face was contorted, the right facial muscles were stiff, and the eye would not close. Beverages leaked
from her mouth when she tried to drink, and she had difficulty eating. The child’s
condition was a great source of anxiety for the parents. One family physician
prescribed hormones. Because of the perceived side-effects of the hormones, the
parents decided against their use. Then one morning they found a doctor
to perform acupuncture on their daughter, and it had no effect. By evening they
sought Dr. Liu out of admiration for his reputation and at the end of the acupuncture session, an immediate effect was apparent. After five acupuncture treatments, the face had basically achieved normal form. After one course of acupuncture, the situation was completely remedied. The entire family was ecstatic. With emotion, Ms. Zuo told
me that Dr. Liu’s healing skills not only has her utmost admiration, but his medical ethics are also of the highest
standard. Every time she went to see Dr. Liu, it was always at the end of the
day, when people normally get off work. Dr. Liu was concerned about the child
and not about the hour of the day. Dr. Liu said that it was rare to see such
a young child afflicted by this type of illness, and would start treatment right away as to not delay the child’s prospect
of recovery. His statement was so simple, honest, and yet so poignant.
41 year old Ms. Wang had suffered menstrual problems from hormonal imbalance since the second half of the previous
year,. Because she was very busy with work and life at the time, she ignored
her condition and the problem increased in severity to the middle of the current year.
The excessive uterine bleeding caused her to become tired, dizzy, and anemic, to the point where she could no longer
work. After months of treatment with western medicine and Chinese medicine, she
still did not have a cure. After seeing an article about Dr. Liu, she sought
him for treatment with an “I’ll give it a try” attitude. Dr.
Liu said to Ms. Wang “Your problem is uterine bleeding due to functional imbalance and I can cure it. Three to five treatments can stop the bleeding, but to root out the problem, one or two courses of treatment
will be required. Unusual as it may be, after one acupuncture treatment, Ms.
Wang felt the bleeding subside. After three treatments, the bleeding stopped
and she was dry for nine days, with not a single drop of blood. Her husband’s
comment was “Dr. Liu is not a doctor, he is a deity”. Ms. Wang was
quite delighted. At this point, Ms. Wang had friends visiting from afar. She was excited and she joyfully prepared food for her visitors. Everybody was having a good time. In her joy, she totally
forgot that her illness had not yet been eradicated. She exhausted herself entertaining
her friends, by the time they left, her bleeding started again. In a panic, Ms.
Wang went to seek western medical treatment and was given a hormone prescription to artificially balance her system. She began the hormonal treatment and the bleeding stopped for three days and then
started to bleed non-stop. Because of the medication’s side-effects, it
was not suitable for long term use. Feeling that she was running out of options,
she went back to see Dr. Liu. Dr. Liu told her, “Do Acupuncture. Not every
doctor can cure this type of illness. You need rest in addition to treatment. Over-exhaustion will cause the bleeding to return. When
I was in mainland China, I did five years
of research and was given the National Technical Advancement award.” Dr.
Liu showed Ms. Wang his certificate and clippings of published newspaper articles from mainland China reporting on Dr. Liu’s treatment of this type of problem. Among the many articles, there was one from “Health News” titled “Wan Cheng Liu Develops
New Acupuncture Techniques for Treatment of Uterine Bleeding”. “Health
News” is a Chinese national publication. For a paper of this stature to
publish such a title, was an obvious acknowledgment of Dr. Liu’s achievement.
Now Ms. Wang was determined to follow to Dr. Liu’s treatment plan. To
ensure effectiveness, Ms. Wang persisted in two courses of treatment. After the
treatment, three months passed and Ms. Wang’s menstrual period remained normal, with no more nuisances of abnormal bleeding. Her studies and work were progressing well and she was well on her way to a normal
life. Ms. Wang always tells people that Dr. Liu is the needle god.
Chinese people more or less can be a wee bit superstitious. Mystical,
magical, and miraculous stories are propagated, and as they are propagated, they can be exaggerated. But some things actually are hard to explain. Take for example,
Dr. Liu’s astonishing treatment of uterine fibroids. Once uterine fibroids
and ovarian cysts reach a certain size, the standard recommended course of action is surgery.
But Dr. Liu showed me a series of ultrasound reports that makes me a more firm believer in the extraordinary effects
of acupuncture. One patient had a grossly enlarged uterus due to a uterine fibroid. Before the start of treatment, the size of the uterus was 13.4 x 7.6 x 6.7 cm. After one course of treatment, the size was 11.38 x 8.49 x 6.39 cm. From the numbers, it is apparent that the uterus had become smaller after treatment. Furthermore, the ovarian cyst on the left was 4.2 x 2.6 x 2.2 cm before treatment and after treatment it
was 2.98 x 2.5 x 1.3 cm, representing a significant shrinkage. Dr. Liu said that
after one more course of treatment, the cyst would probably disappear completely. Dr.
Liu showed me his old case files and the facts show a significant number of cures. Depending
on the size of the fibroids and/or ovarian cysts, the treatment time required varies.
According to Dr. Liu, “I don’t know what the reason is, but women in Canada
have a higher incidence of uterine fibroids and ovarian cysts while women in mainland China have higher incidences of uterine bleeding due to hormonal imbalance. Furthermore, treatment of uterine fibroids and ovarian cysts is more difficult in
Canada than in China
or Hungary (Dr. Liu spent 8 years in Hungary, and during that time he successfully treated many uterine fibroid patients). I don’t know why, but it may be an environmental issue.” No matter what, the ability to shrink or eliminate uterine fibroids and ovarian cysts with a few needles
is astounding.
One morning I brought the draft of my article to Dr. Liu’s clinic. Just
after I sat down, an elderly woman about 70 entered the clinic. I greeted her
and she immediately began to talk about her daughter’s kidney cyst. The
daughter was treated by Dr. Liu the year before and had recovered from the condition.
The husband is also a patient of Dr. Liu’s, and through the family experiences, she gained respect for Dr. Liu. This was her first visit to the clinic. Dr.
Liu analyzed her pulse and told her that the problem was in her shoulders. She
said that indeed she has pain in her shoulders and she could not raise her arms and that was her reason for coming to Dr.
Liu.
Dr. Liu is not only a highly skilled healer, but a very ethical one. With
common problems like headaches, back aches, one treatment will show effect. If
no effect is seen after three treatments, Dr. Liu would advise the patient to seek another doctor.
